Have you ever thought what would you be in the Middle Ages?
A wizard? a witch? a soldier? a saint of some religion? no?
It's because you haven't listened to Castle In Ruins, a project from the most hidden dungeon in the northeast of Mexico, using its magical midi transports you to the darkest and most beautiful parts of the world.
In the first track like every movie intro dedicated to medieval fantasy and dungeons, it starts with a calm and relaxed midi as if talking about a story of some vampire or wizard who was used against his will or corrupted by something or someone for a common evil and the more it goes on the darker it gets as if falling into a darkness from which he can return with some sacrifice.
Each melody goes after the other one wrapping you more and more, where the use of the keyboard stands out as if you were listening to the soundtrack of LA LEGEND OF ZELDA MAJORA MASK where the frequent use of that fantasy game is the keyboard and its melodies are accompanying you throughout the game, you can feel the same in this track.
His second track is a little more between dark and hopeful because as the name says and if I'm not mistaken when translating it, he has awakened the one who cannot die, nor get sick, who is born with the night and rests with the light, the one who is a pop reference everywhere and accompanied with a great melody that could be part of any soundtrack of a movie of the 50's with that midi keyboard that accompanies soft melodies with dark ones.
What I want to say with this second track is that I feel that it has captured the essence of what is the aesthetics of the dungeon vampiric synth with the dungeon synth, this track is very cool to read, to play, to make an edit of Dark fantasy, vampires or something related to this because the melody is perfect to be listened again and again and again.
And to close with the third track Castle in Ruins has evolved in every project he has released, he told me that it took him 30 min to make this concept album of vampires, masmorras and enchantments, I can not lie to say that he has entered one of my favorite albums with these tracks so melodious and so conceptual that he has done throughout the year and this being the last of the year he has said goodbye in a great way, saying goodbye to the year with an album 100 Dungeon Synth with Vampiryc Synth as his great project is. This last track sounds like a farewell, an achievement, projecting the end of something like a tolkien story, a castleviana or a fantasy movie.
This great album is full of a trip of emotions and atmospheres with only 3 tracks and with only a few minutes it feels too much, he has known how to project all that in all his albums that he has published here and in AVE NEGRA as well as in compilations in several parts of the world, so Castle in Ruin would be all for this year, let's hope it comes with more magic aura, elves, dwarves, desire to go to more dungeons and climb hills to continue projecting what is the true Dungeon Synth.
